Maluti Bus Service is the trading name of Scopefull 21 (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2000/016265/07.

The company operates a public transport service, running a scheduled bus service from Phuthaditjhaba, to Bethlehem and Harrismith. We are the largest public transport scheduled service bus operator in the area.

We offer single and multi-journey tickets to commuters, scholars, and the public at large. We sell our tickets through our kiosks, and we station and/or repair our fleet at our depots. Our main depot is situated in De Bult, Phuthaditjhaba. Phuthaditjhaba is also home to our kiosk in Setsing, at our bus rank. We also have a kiosk and depot in Harrismith.

We have a fleet of 38 buses with which we operate 34 routes through 34 duties. On average, we run approximately 175 000 trips, with an average mileage coverage of 150 000 kilometres, monthly.

We have a rich history in providing public transportation, which history includes an outstanding safety record, compliance with legislation, timely operations, minimal environmental impact, safety and security of staff, and community upliftment and involvement.

We are a commuter focused organisation. Our customers come first. Our inclusive ethos allows for the acknowledgement and participation of all our stakeholders.

We boast a staff compliment of 120 people, excluding temporary hires and students. We run a year-round training program for 20 student mechanics at our workshop, and we have just hired 2 interns in the month of September 2023. Our average personnel age is 45, and we provide further education and training support for all staff.

OUR WONDERFUL HISTORY

Setsokotsane Busdiens (Pty) Ltd was founded on 28 February 1969 by the late Mr Eddy Molingoane and other entrepreneurs.

The company operated under this name until March 1985 whereafter it was known as Qwa Qwa Bus Service (Pty) Ltd. The latter entity operated under the colours of the then Qwa Qwa flag.

On 1 April 1990 the company became Qwa Qwa Transport Corporation Ltd. The name of the entity changed in 1994 to Maluti Bus Service (Pty) Ltd.

We are celebrating our 55th year in 2024 and preparations are underway to ensure a memorable and worthy celebration. More information on the 55th year celebrations will follow.

Kamohelo Moses Mokhethi

Mokhethi, assuming the CEO role at Maluti Bus Services Company, leverages a formidable background in accounting and auditing to lead the company to new heights. His distinguished career, marked by significant service at the Auditor General’s office, has finely tuned his financial acumen and strategic oversight.

He possesses outstanding leadership and business skills and strong financial management, strategic planning, and governmental relations skills, bringing a wealth of experience. Mokhethi is adept at economic analysis, risk management, and meticulous auditing. Under his visionary leadership, these skills are instrumental pillars guiding the company towards fiscal excellence and operational efficiency.

Having a proven track record of successfully managing large, complex, and diverse financial transactions, he will be responsible for enhancing the operations and shaping and leading the MBS’s strategic long-term vision and any planned expansions.
